Welcome

to the Swansea University Chemistry online course that is designed to provide coverage of A-level material as well as offer some tantalizing extension material that you would expect to see during your first (or even second) year at Uni. It is suitable for Year 12 and Year 13 students, and even those in Year 11 who would like a little taster of what A-level Chemistry would be like.

This course is designed to done at your own pace - with some provisos and conditions. I do ask that

The course is split into "modules." I have done this based on concepts and so they do not necessarily match the WJEC Learning Objectives. These are all provided within each module, however.

I have separated the modules into

"Structure and Bonding" (mostly what you would call "Inorganic Chemistry")

"Reactions" (mostly what you would call "Physical Chemistry")

"Organic Chemistry"

A typical module contains:

an introductory online "quiz" that you can do to determine how well you understand the material. You get to do this once.
a series of videos that explain the content
a series of "quizzes" associated with one or two videos. You can do these as many times as you like
a worksheet based on questions that test directly the module content. The answers to these questions are provided as well as a video work-through of the answers.
a worksheet of A-level questions on the module content. The answers to these questions are provided as well as a video work-through of the answers.
a final "quiz" that you can do that will illustrate you "before-and-after" knowledge
a set of videos and some questions that extend the topic further than most (all) of the A-level boards
